The Size Issue

Last year Glamour Magazine featured plus size model Lizzie Miller baring it all. And when they received so much praise from readers they featured an entire spread of "bigger" women. Now, this is fantastic if you ask me! When I read this issue I was excited and in awe. Not only for the fact that I myself am a healthy size 10-12 but because I was just tired of seeing all those SUPER skinny models in all things fashion. Glamour made a promise to not let this issue be their only issue displaying women of bigger sizes and I sincerely hope they keep that promise! They did mention however, that it wasn't that they've never thought of the idea but was the sole fact that the designers' sample size is most often just a size 6. This is an issue in it's own matter.... but unfortunately I don't think that will change anytime soon..... Glamour also mentioned that they hope that other fashion magazines will follow in their footsteps and feature women of ALL sizes in their spreads.
Well....... That's exactly what V Magazine has done!!!!! WOOO HOOO!

This cover of V magazine features 250lb actress Gabourey Sidibe from the film "Precious" but V didn't discriminate against the smaller chicks so they also featured size-0, 100lb actress Dakota Fanning

I honestly think this is pretty freakin awesome!!!!! I am not against skinny women but when that's all you see throughout all fashion magazines, it gets sort of annoying... If there was a simple balance like this, bigger and smaller women, I and I'm sure the rest of the public would be very happy! There would be nothing to complain about.... the thicker women would get to see thicker women featured and slimmer women would get to see slimmer women featured. In my opinion, all would be GOOD! V Mag.... you gets lots of props!!!!!! This February issue should be hitting newstands any day now (if it hasn't already).... and even though my $$ is not exactly rolling in..... My girl Crystal Renn is also featured in the issue. As you know, Ms.Renn is the highly popular plus size model! I've been in love with this chick since my Teen Vogue days! hahha!

 

This all means sooooo much to me.... I'm so happy to see that the fashion world is SLOWLY BUT SURELY taking a peek at the realistic side of women! even if so far it's just a TEENSY WEENSY peek lol. But anyway it's happening, that's for sure and really that's all that matters!
